THEFT FROM OFFICE

GODD HAUL IN NOTES AND SILVER [Per United Press Association.] AUCKLAND, March 22. Left on a desk in the office of Donald D. Brown and Company, electrical engineers, Karangahape road, a hag containing £3O in notes, silver, ana copper, and cheques of a total value of £4O was stolen yesterday afternoon. The thief must have gone behind the counter, walked 40ft and' passed the manager’s office. The money had been taken from the safe when a customer paid an account, and was added to tho day’s takings on the desk.

Its disappearance was noticed by a clerk an hour and a-half later. No arrest has been made.
