WEATHER FORECAST
CHANGEABLE AND SDUAUY The following weather forecast was issued at noon by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, covering the southern districts—Dunedin, Port Chalmers, Tapanui, Winton, Invercargill, Riverton, Orepuki, Halfmoon Bay:— A shallow westerly depression has moved rapidly across the South Tasman Sea and has already passed the southern portion of the South Island. Pressure has again risen over south-eastern Australia. Forecast; Moderate to strong southerly winds; weather changeable and squally with occasional showers and cooler; seas rough. OVERCAST-AND COOLER. With an overcast sky thrdughout the morning, temperatures to-day were cooler than those of yesterday, the highest reading until noon being 61.6 deg, compared with 72.6 deg. recorded yesterday The minimum to-day was 59deg, as against 58deg yesterday. No ram fell last night, and the wind to-day wa* a slight north-west breeze. At noon the barometer was rising at 29.8 in and there did not appear, to be any likelihood of a change ;in conditions as the afternoon' advanced.
