YOUNG PLAYER'S 1,000 RUNS , LAUNCESTON, March 1. The Australian eleven in the second innings against Tasmania, lost four wickets for 172 (declared), Barnes scoring 89. Tasmania in tho second innings scored 151 (Morrisby 38, Coombcs 37).
Fleetwood-Smith, White, and Ward shared the wickets. Australia won by 346 runs. Barnes, who is 20, now shares with Bradman and Clem Hill the honour at that age of having made 1,000 runs in first class cricket in an Australian season.
