THE PEKING MAN

INTERESTING DISCOVERY CONCLUSIONS OF SCIENTISTS Press Association —By Telegraph—Copyright LONDON. March 3. (Received March 2, at 12.20 p.m.) The Peking correspondent of 1 The Times ’ says: Described as the most important connection with the Peking man, the discovery is announced of a large piece of thigh bone among a large quantity of material which was removed from Cbouhoutien just before hostilities last July stopped the excavation work. Scientists have now reconstructed a complete leg skeleton. The thigh bone was obviously removed from the hip bone with .an axe, then split lengthwise with the same instrument. Scientists believe that this was done to extract the marrow, proving the Peking man’s cannibalism, which was first suspected when it was noticed that all the skulls found were broken as if to extract the brain.
