Parry contrasts hotel methods in Australia and New Zealand much to the advantage of New Zealand, particularly as to methods of charging. “An inclusive tariff such as New Zealand hotels have is best,” he says. “You know how you stand in everything. The principal hotels in Australia charge separately even to _ dishes, depending on what they contain.” Mr Parry returns with optimistic views in regard to what can be accomplished in New_ Zealand_ in connection with its centennial. He would have liked, however, to have seen more than was displayed of the very early events of Australia’s history. “We should in our centennial celebrations be able to profit from what_ Australia’s celebrations lacked, particularly in respect of living portrayals of old-time people and their ways in the day of their period.
