MOVE TO OBTAIN BATHS

MEETING AT SOUTH DUNEDIN A well-attended meeting of representatives from tho Education Board, the High Schools’ Board of Governors, St. Bernadette’s, St. Patrick’s, and St. Philomena’s Colleges, High School, Caversham, Forbury, Kensington, Macandrew Road, and St. Clair Primary Schools was held last night at Macandrew Road School. From tho outset, the meeting was enthusiastically unanimous that swimming facilities are urgently required to meet a long-felt want in South Dunedin. The following resolution was unanimously carried :—“ That the time has arrived when swimming facilities should bo provided in the south end of the town by the erection of tepid swimming baths.” On the motion of Mr W. R. Brugh, seconded by Mr F. H. Campbell, a committee of five members, consisting of Messrs Davidson, Wood, Robson, Irvine, and Hudson was set up, with power to add to the number if necessary, to obtain information regarding (1) suitability of side; (2) type of building most suitable for baths; (3) most economical system of heating; (4) possibility of tapping an artesian, supply; (5) method of financing the project. The committee has been instructed to report to a general meeting to be held at an early date.
