BOWLING CHAMPIONSHIP

FOUR-RINKS WON BV ST. KILDA A CLOSE FINISH The final of the four-rink champ ionship was played between St. Kilda and Leith on the North-east Valley green last evening, and resulted in a win for St. Kilda by three points, the final scores being 75-72. The green was in good order, and the . slight breeze had little effect on the play. The game was an interesting one throughout, and at no time was there any great difference between the scores, although Leith led consistently in the first half. At the nineteenth head St. Kilda drew level, the scores at that stage being 63 all. The result, however, was in doubt until the last rink had finished P *Last year the competition also produced an exciting finish, on that occasion Dunedin winning the game from St. Kilda on an extra head. St. Kilda rinks have competed in the finals of this competition for the last three years, and on two occasions have been successful. It was the experience of the older club which told in the last heads of the game yesterday, for both teams were playing good bowls. At the conclusion of the match Mr T. Smith, president of the Centre, presented the Holmes Feathers and the Australian bowlers’ clock to Mr D. C. Cameron, selector for the St. Kilda Club.
