The sub-committee appointed reported that it had been found impossible to find a location that combined water suitable for the boats and ground that could be used for planes. It was decided to try to have two separate functions. A comprehensive survey of the history of speed boats was given by Mr Stewart Algie, who stated that interest in this type of boat dated from 1874. The progress made from then until the present day was fully described, and the attempps made by challengers of world championships to gain extra power were made more interesting by photographs.
