WEATHER FORECAST
DULL AND MISTY. The following weather forecast was issued at noon by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, covering the south-*, ern districts—Dunedin, Port Chalmers,’ Tapanui, Winton, Invercargill, Riverton, Orepuki, Halfmoon Bay:— Pressure is still rather high to *th« east of New Zealand, while a depression, is centred off the coast of Westland. A fresh and deep westerly depression has‘developed over. South-eastern Australia. Forecast: Moderate _ southerly winds, changing to northerlies- again, and later freshening. Weather dull and misty, with scattered rain. Tempera-*? tures warm. Seas slight to moderate, but later rising. RAIN LIKELY. A heavily-overcast sky, falling barometric pressure, and a marked decrease in temperatures at noon to-day indicated that rain was likely later in the afternoon. Yesterday, over a period of 24 hours, the maximum and minimum thermometer readings at the Gardena were 74.4 and 54.6 degrees; to-day the registrations at midday were 63.2 and 59 degrees. Barometric pressure was falling at 29.7 in, as compared with a steady pressure of 29.9 in yesterday at the same time. There was a light northerly breeze this morning.
