[From Oub Oamaett Cobbespondent.] DEATHS OF WaTtAKI OLD BOYS. At morning assembly in the Halt of Memories at the Waitaki Boys’ High School reference, was made by the rector, Mr F. Milner, to the recent tragic deaths of three promising aviators, old boys of the school, who had commissions in the lloyal Air Force—Flyingofficers Robert Matheson, Alan Norman Macfarlane, and Thomas Arthur Bunting. A resolution of sympathy with the relatives of these officers was passed by the school. OAMARU NORTH SCHOOL. 'At a meeting of the North School Committee it i was decided to hold the school picnic at Hampden on Thursday, February 17. NORTH OTAGO HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY. 'A general meeting of the North Otago Horticultural Society was held on Wednesday evening, Mr P. W. Hargreaves occupying the chair. The meeting was called principally to appoint judges and stewards for the forthcoming show. GARDEN COMPETITION, The president at the Horticultural Society’s meeting last evening stated that the “ View From the Street Competition ” would be completed just before the autumn show. The first judging took place prior to the summer show, and the state of the gardens indicated that the competition was very keen. The final judging will take place during the last week in February, and the results will be announced on the evening of Alarch 1 at the Horticultural Society’s Show.
