A GRADE COMPETITION KIWI DEFEATS SINCLAIR The senior water polo competition was continued at the Kiwi Club’s hour at the Municipal Baths last night, Kiwi A defeating, St. Clair A by 7 goals to 1, the losers showing considerable improvement in the second spell, when they offered more stubborn resistance than before tho interval, Tho teams were: Kiwi A—D. Pickard, A. Thomas, A. J. Leeden, M. Taylor, Reg. Geddes, C. Lawrence, and W. Dyson St. Clair A—A. Tyrie, W. N. Wood, J. Durand, H. D. Gillies, V. J. Aldous, J. Swan, and C. Gladwin. Kiwi opened the scoring when Thomas sent a long pass to Lawrence, wljo found the net. Kiwi 1, St. Clair 0. Thomas, from a free throw, again sent the hall to Lawrence, who netted hia second goal. Kiwi 2, St. Clair 0. A good swim-up by Taylor looked like bringing another goal, but Dyson shot high. A melee ensued around the St. Clair seal until Geddes secured and passed to Dyson, who scored. Kiwi 3, St. Clair 0. St. Clair did not play well to position, hacks and forwards failing to get into scoring range. Jiist before half-time Thomas threw a lob which Tyrie failed to stop, and the spell ended: Kiwi 4, St. Clair 0. St. Clair showed to much better advantage in the second spell, Gladwin doing good work in the hacks. Aldous sent a long pass to Gillies, who scored from 4yds out. Kiwi 4, St. Clair 1. Tyrie made several godd saves until Taylor sent to Lawrence, who scored. Kiwi 5, St. Clair 1. In the closing stages Lawrence and Dyson each goaled, and the game ended:— Kiwi A 7 St. Clair A 1 Mr Don Watson was the referee. B GRADE MATCH. The first match in the B grade com£etition was also played last night, •unedin B (winners of this grade last year) defeating Kiwi B by 8 goals to 3 after a good display. Mr J. Swan was the referee. COMING FIXTURES. Kaikorai will meet St. Clair B at 8.30 to-morrow night, Mr D. C. Bannaiwne being the referee. Kiwi B will meet Zenith on Tuesday, November 2 (referee, Mr Taylor) :—C. J Leeden (captain), Roy Geddes, W. Warren, W. Johnson, F. Shaw, C. M'Gregor, and Don Reid.
