ORKNEY AND SHETLAND SOCIETY

The monthly social of the Orkney and Shetland Society was held on Saturday. There was a good attendance of members, their friends, and representatives of kindred societies. The newly-elected president (Mr J. R. Sabiston) assured members that he would do his best for the benefit of the society, and that if they .pulled together he had no fear for the success of the society, which would continue to prosper. The evening was spent in dancing, and a musical programme was also provided, tho following items being contributed;—Songs, Miss Bettv Scott (‘ Bird Songs at Eventide ’ and 1 In a Little Garden ’); Mrs E. Black (‘ Hame o’ Mine ’ and ‘ Misty Islands of the Highlands ’). Mr and Mrs Machines won the “ movie waltz.” Mr Hargreaves ami Mr Fraser wore the musicians, and Mr .William Sabiston acted a§ M.G,
