Newfoundland. Britain’s oldest colony has a population of only 280,000 men. women, and children, hut she had 70,290 people receiving State relief at the end of February, or over one in four. Forty-nine students, four masters, and FI servants were overcome by an explosion of chlorine gas in a receptacle at the Arts and Crafts School in Cairo recently, and had to ho taken to hospital.
