COURSING

DUNEDIN CLUB OPENING MEETING The opening meeting of the Dunedin Coursing Ohio was held on the For bury Park pluraptou on Saturday afternoon, when a good attendance cf the public was treated to an interesting afternoon’s sport. With Air E. R. Brown as secretary, the arrangements for the meeting were excellent, and the courses were put through with commendable expedition. Air E. G. Price gave every satisfaction as judge, and Air F. Mitchell was a capable slipper. The principal c . t of the afternoon was the Alaiclen Stake, which attracted an entry of 15 dogs. Although the hares were a little weak, they made the dogs work, and many fast and clever exhibitions were given. The semi-finals between Special Terms and Aliss Alicawber and Alother’s Footsteps and Presentation were keenly' contested, narrow margins of points separating the dogs.. The courses both went to dogs owned by Air A. J. Wilson, of Oamarn. As a result the owner decided not. to match his dogs in the final, and they divided the stake money. The winning dogs were Special Terms (Again Terminus—Limes Beauty) and Presentation (Lucky Terms—Sly Zella). A Supplementary Alaiden Stake was also decided, the winner being Mr J. Alatheson’s Gay Artist (Why WorryGay Parade). The final of this stake provided the best course of the afternoon. Gay Artist and Miss Gilfillan, which had shown up brilliantly in the previous courses, proved to be two clever and evenly-matched dogs. Aliss Gilfillan led to within three lengths of a strong hare, but approaching the quarry, she steadied and allowed Gay Artist to lead by a length. The exchanges were exceptionally even, and the scoring was very quick. The decision went to Gay Artist by 4J points to 3J. Results;— AIAIDEN STAKE. —First Round.— Air A. J.
