KENSINGTON PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH A valedictory was Recorded Mr Frederick Carter and Mr Lex Mackay at the Presbyterian Church last eveh- : ing, and was largely attended. Mr Carter has been an enthusiastic and efficient leader of the Boys’ Brigade for over two years, and has greatly in- ! creased the membership, efficiency, and 'esprit de corps of the company. He is leaving to attend college in Auckland in preparation for the Baptist ministry. Mr Mackay, who has been connected with the church from childhood, has zealously, served it in various capacities : as an oPr-er of the Boys’ Brigade, : teacher - , and • secretary of the Sunday School, and member of the Church Committee. The Rev. J. Pringle presided and eulogised the services of .the guests of i the evening. As Mr Mackay was proi ceeding to the Bible Training Institute j in Auckland with a view to undertak- •; ing foreign mission work, the speaker’s j address was mainly on the topic of the . necessity of the evangelisation of the ' world in accordance with the Saviour’s 1 mandate. ■ . The Rev. H. J. Ryburn (Moderator) i conveyed the thanks and appreciation ! of the session of St. Andrew’s,' and wished the two workers Godspeed in : their studies and their future labours. Mr James Bell presented Mr Lex Mackay with'a commentary on Scrip-' : tuxe ■as a gilt, from the Bible class. To the same recipient Mr Pringle.gave jv useful boox for Bible study, and to ; both guests Mr James Read handed ' envelopes with financial contents. Both guests suitably responded, and expressed'the pleasure they had enjoyed jn the work and in, the fellowship of .the people of the church. Supper was afterwards dispensed.by the ladies. Mr Carter and Mr Mackay will leave for Auckland by the north express tomorrow.
