INTERNATIONAL LABOUR CONFERENCE

EIGHT DELEGATES NOMINATED [Per United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, February 25. There is a keen desire among industrial unions throughout New Zealand to appoint a representative to the International Labour Conference at • Geneva on June 4 this year. No fewer than eight nominations have been submitted to the Department of Labour. The nominations are Messrs T. Blood worth, M.L.C. (Auckland), F. J. Cleary (Hastings). E. Kerry (Ohnra), A. AFLagen (Brunnerton), T. Purtell (Auckland), G. T. Thurston , (Christchurch). J. Tucker (Wellington), and F. L. Turley (Greymouth). It has been decided to call for recommendations for the Selection of one of the eight nominees mentioned and industrial unions have been requested to fill in nomination forms and forward them to the deputy, registrar of industrial unions, Air H. E. Morton, not later than noon on March'll. 1036. The authorities point out that it is left for each union to decide whether its recommendation should be made in pursuance of a resolution of a meeting of • the union or of the committee of management, and the recommendations should be addressed to the Secretary of Labour, private hag, Wellington C.l, for the purpose of selection. Each union with not, more than 60 members will have one vote, and each union having more than 50 members will have one vote for each complete 50 of its members. Several other nominations were received, but/ do not desire their names to he included.
