Miss Jean Batten is promised a great reception in Paris during the week-end, when she will be the guest of Baronne Devendeuvre, who has done much to promote the Red Cross use of aeroplanes. Miss Batten will spend the afternoon at the office of the ‘ Figaro ’ and the evening as a guest of the French Aeronautic Federation, SERVICE FROM JAPAN OBSTACLES IN THE WAY TOKIO, February 23. , (Received February 24. at 11 a.m.) The Osaka Chamber of Commerce has petitioned the Ministry of Communications to hasten the establishment of air mail service* with countries southward.

In this connection the Director of the Air Bureau states that he is anxious to institute an air mail sevvice to Australia and elsewhere, but fears it will he slow, due to obstacles in securing landing places at foreign ports en route.
