RUGBY CONFERENCE
NEW ZEALAND UNION'S CONSTITUTION [Per United Press Association’.] CHRISTCHURCH, January 31. A private conference of South Island Rugby unions has been called by the Canterbury Rugby Union, and will be held at Christchurch to-morrow evening to consider the proposals of Mr A. M. Ongley, of Palmerston North, for amendments to the constitution of the New Zealand Rugby Union with the idea of bringing the unions into closer touch with the management of the game in the Dominion, and of enlarging the representation of the Management Committee of the New Zealand Rugby Union. It is suggested that football affairs should bo controlled by a committee of 12 elected by the delegates to the annual meeting of the New Zealand Rugby Union, the candidates to be nominated by the various unions, and the executive to meet periodically to conduct the business of the union, say, every six weeks. A smaller executive would be appointed to advise the the larger body, and carry out its decisions. This executive would probably be of three or five members.
