FATALLY INJURED, When unloading operations were being carried out at the Wellington’ Winter Show Association’s building on Monday evening a crate a motor car slipped and struck P. Shipton, of 2 Kensington street, on the head. He was taken to hospital suffering from severe concussion, and was reported to be progressing satisfactorily.His condition became worse yesterday,however, and he died in the afternoon, YOUNG BOY KILLED. A sad accident occurred at Paretai on Monday afternoon, resulting in the death of Arthur lan Rumney, aged five years and ten. months, son of Mr and Mrs A. Rumuey, Paretai. On hearing the mail bus stop at his patents’ mail box the little fellow ran out to, collect the mail. An oncoming car, driven by, Sir L. Callahan, in swerving to avoid the bus, which was stationary on the roadside, struck the boy, with the result that he was rendered unconscious, and died in the Balclutha Hospital about 8 o’clock the same night; An inquest was held last night before Mr H. J. Dixon, district coroner, and after hearing the evidence of the father, Dr M'Laurin, L. Callahan, Frank Wright, Walter Wright, John Thurlow (driver of the mail bus), Laura Anderson (passenger in the bus), and Constable Buchanan, a verdict was returned that deceased met his death Irom injuries - received 'by being struck by a motor truck driven by Leonard Callahan,; The injuries sustained comprised a fracture of the skull, fracture of right thigh bone, and severe lacerations and abrasions on various parts of the body., FALL OFF BICYCLE., Through falling off his bicycle hr Serpentine Avenue this morning, .William Reay, aged 16, residing with his parents at 27 Parkhill Avenue, Morniugton, received head injuries that necessitated his removal to the Hospital, where he was admitted at 9.5. SHOOTING MISHAP. While getting .through a fence with’ a loaded pea rifle Anthony Paterson (27),- of Herbert, was shot in the abdomen and was removed to hospital, reports a Press Association in ess ag* from Oamaru. His condition is satisfactory.
