(Received August 13, at 12.40 p.m.)' The Tokio correspondent of ‘ The Times ’ says the public connects the sabring of Major - general Nagata with the recent wholesale changes in the army personnel, for the details of wliich he was officially responsible. Attacks against politicians and officials are ifo novelty, but this is the first occasion an officer has been attacked. This breach of discipline in an army priding itself on its loyalty makes a most painful impression and is regarded as proving the necessity for General Hayashi’s drastic changes.— 1 London Times ’ Cable. ASSAILANT ARRESTED TOKIO, August 12. (Received August 13, at noon.) Major-general Nagata was assassinated in a room at the War Office. Colonel Limi was seriously wounded in attempting to protect his chief. The assailant was arrested, but his name was not revealed.
