BRITISH POLICE FORCE
REVIEWED BY KING UNIQUE CEREMONY Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, July 20. For the final Jubilee review 10,000 policemen from all parts of Britain were drawn up in Hyde Park in two lines, flanked by mounted police and mechanised squads. The review was unique, as the King had not previously inspected the police. Despite showers,
their Majesties drove in an open landau along the blue-coated line, among which were plain-clothes Scotland Yard police headed by top-hatted and morn-ing-coated chiefs, who received their Majesties with a Royal salute, standing to attention while the band played the National Anthem. Lord Trenchard led three cheers for the King, after which their Majesties drove along the line and received a great ovation from 250,000 spectators. The weather, misbehaved for the first time in the Jubilee celebrations, when a shower accompanying the march past forced their Majesties to retire to shelter in the Royal pavilion. The pipers played the Scottish police past. Only Ulster was not represented, the riots thefe necessitating all remaining on duty.
