YEHUDI MENUHIN

ONE COMCERT-SATURDAY NEXT The hex plau opened this morning for the one concert which Yehudi Menuhin will give in the Dunedm Town Hall on Saturday next, July 2/. i referential bookings have been the heaviest ever experienced by the Dunedin box office, and the interest dispayed in the forthcoming visit or this miracle violinist is greater than that in any other musical celebrity who has visited the Dominion. The immense audiences which have crowded the various auditoriums in almost every principal city of the world to hear lehudi Menuhin . have experienced emotions probably unknown to them before, and just as likely never to occur again. With - the brevity of a Csesar the critics and public have summed up tliis genius. The Royal Albert Hall, seating 10,000, was filed to capacity in October last, making the tenth time that Menuhin ha's'played to a capacity audience in this famous auditorium. New Zealand music lovers have not been behind those of other cities, and have taken full advantage of this unique opportunity to hear the greatest musical celebrity of our age. Yehudi Menuhin’s technique is a revelation of consummate artistry . . the artist is in complete harmony with the beautiful instrument he plays. All the promises about Yehudi Menuhin s being the rival of Paganini have been redeemed. Paganini’s name . has a fascination for the masses, but he who will compare the programmes of Yehudi Menuhin to those of Papamni will at onco reach the that Menuhin is more than the rival of Paganini, For Menuhin plays with such perfection not only the works _ of Paganini in their complete version, which no one dares to play to-day. but h© plays Bach and Beethoven as Paganini never dared to outside his private home. Whoever will recall the descriptions of Paganini will at once see the difference between him and one who emulates him in the reincarnation of his art.

A most interesting programme, which includes the works of Bach, Tar-tini-Kreisler, Mendelssohn, Sarasate, Debussy-Hartmann, Baxinni, Korsa-kov-Hartmann, will be_ rendered by Menuhin at the Dunedin concert.
