USEFUL SPARES

There are some spares which might always be carried in a side pocket of the ear, even when only short Journeys are made. Among, them are insulated “ flex ” friction tape and a pair of wirecutting pliers It is surprising how many makeshift repairs can be accomplished with that very limited outfit. One can, in case of need, connect the ignition coil directly with the batte.ry, and so get the car going again in spite of a fault in the ignition switch or the wiring of the instrument board. Friction taipe has many uses,_ and there is almost no limit to the “ jury-rigging ” which a handy man can carry out, provided he is armed with good pliers and a few feet of medium-gauge plain wire.
