ALL BLACK VORRATH
QUEST OF FELIOW-TRADESMEH F. Vorrath, one of the two Otago footballers selected to tour Great Britain with the All Black team, was the guest at a social evening held last night under the auspices of the Otago branch of the Amalgamated Society of Carpenters and Joiners. Mr W. T. M'Millan, president of the society, said' it was one of the most pleasant duties he had to perform in offering the congratulations of members to Mr Vorrath on his selection, They all felt proud that one of their number had risen to be worthy of selection for the tour. They knew the tour: would be a strenuous one, but they trusted it would be enjoyable and memorable. The speaker felt sure that both on and off the field Mr Vorr.ath’s record would be an' honourable one. He hoped the team would make history on the football field, and that the bonds of Empire would be strengthened as a result of the tour. (Applause.) Mr Vorrath’s progress on the tour would be followed with the closest interest by his fellow members. Messrs Rainbow, Ball, Hodginson, Evans, and Ikin also made felicitous speeches, and those present joined in singing * For He’s a Jolly Good fellow.” *
