Shooting ” dry ice ” out of a tire extinguisher to’ “ freeze out ” the Annies is one of the latest wrinkles in safety and preservative devices demonstrated in Chicago. In more technical language, “ the carbon dioxide gas is blown through an extension horn attached to the fire extinguisher.” Tim gas is transformed into “ snow,” commonly called “ dry ice,” which puts out fire without leaving the damaging marks of water. It is especially valuable where blue prints or documents, important papers, or cloth should lie protected from ruinous streams of water, it was explained.
