GOODWILL MISSION
JAPANESE DIPLOMAT AT HEAD DUE HERE NEXT MONTH According to a letter which, th» mayor (the Rev. E. T Cox) has received from the Acting Prime Minis, ter (Sir Alfred Ransom) a Japanese goodwill mission, headed by Mr Kat. suji Debuchi, Ambassador Extraordinary, will shortly visit New Zealand. Mr Debuchi is one of Japan’s leading diplomats, and he' will be accompanied by three other members of the Foreign Office. The party is due to arrive by the Niagara on Monday, August 19, and is scheduled to leave Wellington on Thursday, August 29. The itinerary in the course of submission to the Japanese Consul-General in ' Sydney makes provision for a stay in Dunedin extending from the evening of Monday, August 26, till 10 a,m. on Wednesday, August 28. The Government, realising the valu» and importance of. a goodwill mission headed by such a distinguished ambassador, is extending every _ Statn facility and courtesy to the visitors, and has asked for the co-operation of the City Council.
