NEW CRUISER LAUNCHED Press Association —By Telegraph—Copyright PARIS, July 17. (Received July 18, at 12.5 p.m.) A message from St, Nazaire states that the second-class cruiser Marseilles was launched in the presence of members of Cabinet. She has a displacement of 7,720 tons and is 590 ft in length, with a speed of 32 knots._ She will carry nine guns, eight anti-air-craft guns, four torpedo tubes, and a catapult for the projection of seaplanes. M. Pietri (Minister of Marine) at a subsequent dinner, expressed satisfaction at France’s recent naval progress and pointed out that her submarines were the most numerous and her destroyers the swiftest in the world. The best way for a nation to keep her friends was to be their equals.
