THE HISTORIC SOUTHERN CROSS SYDNEY TO RICHMOND Tieu Association—By Telegraph—Copyright SYDNEY, July 17. The historic monoplane Southern Cross will make her last flight to-mor-row over the city prior to being handed over to the National Museum' at Canberra. Sir Charles Kingsford Smith will take his old flying pals with him, including Captain Taylor, Messrs Stannage and Litchfield, and the late Mr Ulm’s 14-year-old son. The “ Old Bus ” will be flown to Richmond, where there will b« a brrif and appropriate ceremony. The Minister of Defence will take delivery of the monoplane, which will be housed temporarily at the Air Force aerodrome. Sir Charles Kingsford Smith will depart in the afternoon on the Aorangi for New Zealand, where he will discuss with the Government the question of * transtasman service. Sir Charles will leave later for America. escort of six planes SYDNEY, July 18. (Received July 18, at 1.25 p.m.) The Southern Cross’s last flight attracted considerable attention this morning, many gathering on rooftops to witness the “Old Bus” and its escort of six Hawker Demons as they circled the city and proceeded via Mosman, where they dipped in salute over the Keith Anderson memorial, and Longueville, where a further salute was made over the home of ' Sir Charles Kingsford Smith’s mother, to Richmond, where the monoplane will be located until it can be accommodated at Canberra.
