WAR PROFITEERS
9 WILL BE SHOT MUSSOLINI’S WARNING. & , _ MILAN (Italy), April 29. Wartime, profiteers in Italy will be stood up against a wall and shot, states Signor Mussolini’s newspaper, ‘ Popolo D’ltalia.’ The newspaper, after chronicling a serious rise in prices in the last few weeks, said:— “Those who decided to launch themselves in wicked adventures are mistaken if they think there is any possibility to-day of the greedy profits of the past. “ Rather it is better they should know formally that whenever the possibility of war profits arises, we will begin immediately to place some persons against the wall in the first two days, or, better stillj two days before.” This statement coincided with an order sent out by the Fascist Party secretary, Signor Achille Starace, to all provincial secretaries to watcli the increase in prices to ascertain how much is due to natural economic rca sons, .such as new import regulations, and how much to speculation on the European and African political situations.
