'FRENCH LEAVE'

On Tuesday next, in the Town. Hall Concert Chamber, the Dunedin Strolling Players will present that delightful comedy. ‘ French Leave,’ for a season of five nights. A first-class production is assured, as a strong cast of local amateurs has been chosen. The players in elude such well-known players as Anita Winkel. Sheila Neilson, Douglas Dali, A’nrus Gorrie, Douglas Skene, Reynolds Herbert, Roland Watson, and Bert ,I ones. . The story of the play concerns Captain Glenistor. who in a billet behind the lines “ somewhere in Franco '' has been expecting leave to visit his wife, Dorothy, in Paris. This, however, does not materialise, and Dorothy, impatient at her husband’s absence, hits on a plan of visiting him at the billet, in the guise of a French girl, in the belief that she would bo able to carry her role to the end. Events begin to happen when Graham, a perky young subaltern, and General Root begin making love to Dorothy in front of her husband, unaware that she is his wile. In past years the Players have presented many plays that have appealed to Dunedin audiences, and this year s production should prove to be no exception to the rule. The play will bo mounted in special, scenery, and tho comedy is being produced by Reginald White. The box plan is at the D.I.C,
