EMPIRE TOURIST TRAFFIC

DEVELOPMENT UWED m U«l MM.TN'I BUS6MTIIH p rM( Association—By Telegraph—Copyright SYDNEY, February 27. The suggestion that an. Empire conference, be Jield to develop travel within the Empire was . made by Mr Adam Hamilton (Postmaster-General for New Zealand), in addressing the New South Wales Travel League, which entertained the Minister at luncheon to-day. The Minister said that such a conference would ;bring about greater knowledge and understanding among Empire, units and considerably enhance Empire trade co-operation. It would also help shipping in a practical-manner. He had no doubt that an equitable method' of securing funds for such development could easily be propounded. He suggested that when the Empire Prime Ministers met in London for the King’s jubilee they should discuss preliminary arrangements for a conference of the kind indicated. The Minister said he hoped:as a result of his visit to' Australia that there would be .greater co-operation between the Commonwealth and 'the dominion in the matter of developing the tourist traffic. This was becoming a more and more important revenue-producing factor, and it was riot subject to hampering by, quotas nor faced with the possibility of over-production.
