FIHE AND RATHER MILDER - \ The following weather forecast was issued at noon by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, covering the south* * era district—Dunedin, Port Chalmers* Tapanui, Winton, Invercargill, River* ton, Orepuki, Bluff, Halfmoon Bay:— Though still rather low to the east, pressure is rising over New Zealand and the weather is becoming definitely more settled. Forecast: Moderate south-west to south-east winds; weather, fair to fine and rather milder; seas moderate. SUNNY BUT FRESH After a fairly bright morning, with warm sunshine, the sky became cloudy, toward noon, and the cold south-west-erly wind continued to make conditions unpleasant. Up till midday the maximum temperature was 66deg, the respective reading for the whole , of, yesterday being a maximum of 58.5 deg and a mimimum of 43.6 deg. No., rain fell during the twenty-four’ hours ended at 9 a.m., and at noon the barometer was steady at 30in.
