ST. CLAIR CARNIVAL

Many families belonging to or visiting Dunedin have spent their holidays on or about the beach at St. Clair, and the sands there have been a popular picnicking ground. Approval has frequently been expressed in regard to the improvements which have been effected during recent years in the extra facilities for bathing in comfort, and the advance in safety precautions. With the object of raising funds to carry on this wo_rk,_ the St. CJair Improvement Association will present a carnival on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday next. The Esplanade lends itself admirably to a function of this kind, and one this occasion the “ front ” will bo transformed into a fairyland of coloured lights, and the breakers will bo illuminated by floodlights. New games and attractions will be offered, and there will be a special opening ceremony, when the “ Mayor ” of I White Island will pay his respects and join in the carnival week.
