WEATHER FORECAST

FAIR AND WARM -F The following weather forecast was issued at noon by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, covering the southern districts—Dunedin, Port Chalmers, Tapanui, Winton, Invercargill. Riverton, Orepuki, Bluff, Halfmoon Bay:— A rather intense anti-cyclone still covers the dominion, with its centre to the east. Pressure has risen also over the Tasman Sea. Forecast: Light to moderate and variable winds. Weather, fair, warm, and sultry, but with a tendency for isolated thunderstorms. Some morning fogs. Seas smooth. IDEAL WEEK-END. Dunedin basked in the summer heats of a glorious week-end, free from the troublesome wind that often mars an otherwise perfect day; there was justs the suggestion of a breeze inland to relieve oppressively sultry conditions. Rain never seemed further distant, and however much the country may need it,the people in the city naturally prefer sunshine for their sporting activities, all of which, excepting one, were held under ideal conditions. J blustery wind on the harbour interfered with' rowing on Saturday. On that day the maximum temperature was 76deg, with a minimum of 56.8 deg, the respective readings for yesterday being 73deg. and 57deg. To-day the sun had lost_ none of its force, the mercury reaching a peak of 75.3 up to midday, with a minimum reading of 71.9 deg. The barometer is still high. Oa Saturday it recorded 30, yesterday it showed 30.1, and to-day, to noon, it read at 30.1.
