OTAGO CLUB The St. Andrew’s Cross competition was played on the Balmacewen links on Saturday afternoon. A strong northerly wind prevailed. Both competitions resulted in ties with scores of 71, J. R. Callender and R. R, Aspinall in the seniors, and C. W. Birch and L. B. Whinam in the junior. The best scores were:— Senior.—J. R. Callender, 77—6—71; R, R. Aspinall, 82—11 —71; J. A. Soouler, 73—1—72; T. C. Tyrrell, 85— 12—73; K. A. Ross, 85—12—73; H. A. B. Brabant, 82—8—74. Junior.—C. W. Birch, 87—16—71; L. B. Whinam, 87—16—71; D. Wright, 90—16—74. . ST. CLAIR FLAYER’S FEAT The feat of “ holing in 1 ” was performed by 0. L. Garden, a member of the St. Clair Golf Club, during the week-end. Garden was completing a quiet round of golf when lie reached the 17th hole. This hole’ is 93yds in length, and Mr Garden, with a mashiehiblick shot, pitched the ball perfectly. It ran a very short distance before it found the hole, enabling Garden, whose handicap is 12, to join the select company of those who have “ holed in 1.”
