MAYOR’S RELIEF ORGANISATION Beach Picnic (Tomahawk Residents —The following arrangements have been made for the children of relief workers in Tomahawk. A bus will leave the Glencairn Hall (Tomahawk) on Wednesday, January 30, at 9.30 a.m., leaving St. Clair Beach on the return journey at 4.30. One parent from each family will be allowed to travel with' the children. Tickets for soft drinks, biscuits, ice cream, and sweets are obtainable from Mrs M'Arthur on the St. Clair Beach. Hot water and milk will be also available. Owing to the unsettled state of the weather during this week it has been decided to extend the period for the children’s beach picnic to the end of the school holidays. The tram tickets, can now be used up to and including Monday, February 4. Any who have not yet received their tickets can still obtain them from the district depots. Hot w'ater, milk, soft drinks, sweets, and ice cream are provided on the St. Clair beach. NO. 4 DEPOT As Thursday is the last day of the month, No. 4 Depot will be closed for stock-taking purposes. DANCE. This evening’s function, to be held in the South Dunedin Town Hall under the direytion of the Social Committee of No, 4 District, promises to surpass all previous dances. An added attraction will be an extra Monte Carlo, which will take place at 8.30. There will also be the two other Monfe Carlos, the prizes for these being above all expectations. Last Saturday’s Monte Carlo winners were Miss Carr and Mr Robinson, also Miss Parsons and Mr Smith. Thursday’s winners were Mrs M'Currie and Mr Munro, also Miss Bell and Mr Constable. The waltzing competition winners were Miss Isaac and Air Hornby 1, Mrs Scoles and Air King 2. A special prize given during the evening was won by Airs Brown and Air Aloody. The Triumph Band will again render the musical programme of old and new numbers. Supper may be procured by those requiring it between the hours of 9.30 p.m. and 10.30 p.m. A conveyance will leave the hall at 11.45 p.m. for town.
