COMMUNITY SINGING
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —“ Dunedinite’s ” letter in tonight’s ‘ Star ’ is true to facts, and it is about time our song leader showed a little more courtesy to visitors. When the Southland footballers asked for the old favourite, ‘ On the Ball,’ the song leader said they could have it after the match. Of course, the song leader would expect them to leave their “ bobs ” in the collection boxes. Of late it has been a one-man “ talkie ” instead of a community “ sing.” Hoping for more sing, less talk, and less slang.—l. am, etc., Courtesy. September 12.
