EXTENDED SERVICES [L’kr United Press Association.l AVKLLJNGTOX, September 12. A conference of power boards was opened to-day. Air J. A. Nash presided. The conference reaffirmed its previous decision to approve live principle that the Government hydro-electricity schemes should be handed over to electricity commissioners to administer. Statistics relating to the electricity generation and supply industry in the dominion for the year ended March 1)1, 191)4, show that supply authorities have continued to extend their sendees within supply areas, and the connected load rose from 2,971),1)20 kw; in 191)2-1)1) to 2,175,009 kw. in 191)3-1)4. Consumption of electric power lias increased, units retailed to consumers having risen from 035,000,000 to 007,000,000. The last two years in the industry have been marked by a falling off in the amount of new construction work, reflected in capital expenditure, which shows a drop from £740,710 in 1932-33 to £328,455 in 191)334. A decrease of over 1 per cent, in revenue is due to a fall in miscellaneous receipts, the revenue from the sale of current being £4,319,230, against £4,309,758 in 1932-33.
