BIG CONCERT

ELSA BTRALIA. BENIA CHOSTIAKOFF, AND PAUL VINOGRADOFF It will be seen from the preliminary advertisement in this paper that a very fine concert is being arranged by the New Zealand Broadcasting Board, to be held in the Town Hall on Thursday, October 4. Madame Elsa Stralia, the famous operatic soprano, who is under engagement with the New Zealand Broadcasting Board, will appear in operatic numbers, Senia Chostiakoff, the Russian tenor, and Paul Vinogradoff, the Russian pianist, will provide the concert, with the assistance of tho Returned Soldiers’ Choir and a full orchestra. Madame Stralia has been singing in Australia, and has had wonderful receptions, and is sure to be a big attraction at the concert. Senia Chostiakoff really needs no introduction. At the Returned Soldiers’ concert Inst evening, when he took a prominent part in the programme, the - house was packed, hundreds being unable to gain admission, and it is very pleasing to know that he will bo heard again, in public in Dunedin. He will again/appear in costume. It is felt sure that the public will be delighted to know that these two famous singers will be heard on the same platform, and a real treat is in store for those attending. Paul Vinogradoff is also well known, and at the last concert arranged by the Broadcasting Board his solos with orchestral accompaniment were greatly enjoyed. In addition to these visiting artists, the Returned Soldiers’ Choir will be assisting Senia Chostiakoff in some of his numbers, and a full orchestra will be assisting the other artists. The Broadcasting Board are devoting the whole of the proceeds to the Mayor’s Relief Fund, and this particular concert will be for the children’s Christmas cheer. It is to be hoped a packed house will be their reward, so that the children will be able to have a very pleasant time at Christmas. Fuller particulars will be announced later.
