COUNTERFEITING CHARGES
THE FAMILY CASE MEN PLEAD GUILTY [Per United Press Association.] AUCKLAND, July 26. The recent seizure by the police at a bouse iu Orakei road, Remucra, of a number of spurious coins and a complete counterfeiting plant led to the appearance in' the Supreme Court of William Leonard Bishop, aged fifty-one years, a builder; his wife, Gwendoline Bishop, aged forty-seven years; and their son, Denniston Leonard Bishop, aged nineteen years, for trial on a scries of charges. Mr Justice Fair presided,, and the Crown was represented by Mr Hubble. Mr Sellivan represented the accused. The father and son were jointly charged with having in their possession a mould intended to make a resemblance of both sides of a current silver coin, with making counterfeit silver coins with intent to make them resemble current silver coins, and with having in their possession three or more counterfeit silver coins with intent to utter them. Two charges of uttering coins were also preferred against the father, and Gwendoline Bishop was charged with having in her possession three or more counterfeit silver coins with intent to utter them. She was also charged on two counts with uttering. Both male accused pleaded guilty to all charges, and were remanded for sentence. ’ Gwendoline Bishop pleaded not guilty, and after evidence had been heard the case was adjourned.
