ARBITP.ATION COURT. • The announcement that arrangements had been made for Mr Justice Blair to take urgent cases before the Arbitration Court during the absence of Mr Justice Frazeron the Daily Commission was made to-day by the Minister of Labour (Mr Hamilton). Replying to a deputation from the Trades and Labour Council, which protested against the delay which had oecurred in dealing with compensation claims, the Minister pointed out that the delay did not appear to he any greater at present than was normal. Tie said that the judges of the Supreme Court were fully occupied with other work, and it would possibly be early in June before Mr Justice Blair could arrange to deal with Arbitration Court cases. CLARIDGE COUNTRY CLUB CASE. -In the Claridge case at Christ•'.Tiurch (reported elsewhere), the magistrate said the evidence satisfied him that the public could readily gain admission on payment of the usual charge, and that no exception was taken to this by defendant. He was also satisfied tliat meals were provided by defendant, and sold to the public for consumption on the premises. Liquor was brought to the premises by guests, and was consumed there in considerable quantities by them, and by their partners, with the 'knowledge and consent of defendant. “ I can come to no other conclusion than that the consumption of liquor on. these premises was a part, and an important part too, of the system on which it was conducted, and that it was consumed at times when licensed premises were required to be closed. ’.— Press Association.
