CAPPING CONCERT

AN ENJDYABLE PERFORMANCE Another enjoyable performance of the capping carnival concert was given at His Majesty’s Theatre last night, and while of a higher standard than for some years past the items have lost nothing on the score of brightness. The producing was excellent, and the acting and singing very creditable indeed. A large audience again showed its appreciation, of v first-class effort. The vaudeville portion of the programme included some effective ballet work, and the burlesque wrestling match between Fount Lager and Whiskers Speight provoked the audience to roars of laughter. The sextet proved ns popular as ever, the topical hits being cleverly done. Some good characterisations wore given in the clever interlude '.Will Bernard Burn Hard?’ and the laree 1 io the Fast Alan ’ was quite elaborately and impressively staged, Ihe second half of the programme included a sketch, ‘ Beau Gesto,’ and the interludes ‘ Pipped ’ and 1 The Dear n ife ’ were also most ■ entertaining. Iho sextet were heard to further advantage, and an hilarious burlesque on a motion picture concluded a most enjoyable concert. This sketch was exceedingly well presented, and-tbe whole performance represents a distinct achievement on the part of those responsible for its presentation. The orchestra, under the baton of Air T. •Maniisell, deserves special praise for its admirable work. The performance will be repeated to-night and to-morrow night.
