mosgiel appeal for funds
The Mosgiel Relief Committee has decided to launch an appeal for funds for local use. Donations may be left with the town clerk (Mr R. D. Rogers). The 1 fund will be knowm as the mayor’s relief fund.
SOUTH DUNEDIN FUNCTIONS
An appreciative audience filled the South Dunedin Town Hall on Sunday last, when the South Dunedin Unemployed Association presented its weekly concert, the proceeds of which go to members of the association. The principal portion of the programme was given by Mr H. 0. Stokes and his banjo and guitar band. Other items were provided as follow; —Banjo duet, Messrs Fowlatt and Laurence; mandolin quintette—-Messrs Brough, Moore, Gamble, Hambleton, and Stokes; Hawaiian guitar trio—Messrs Moore, Brough, and Stokes; tenor banjo solo, Mr Q. W. Stokes; songs, Mr J. Montague; humorous recitation, Mr_ E. Bezet; song and tap dance, Misses Bryan; dance, Miss P. Atkinson. Each item was greatly appreciated by the audience. The association is indebted to the artists, who come'along each week and give their services willingly and free of charge. The public is assured of a verv fine variety concert on Sunday night. Extra novelty items have been secured. . The weekly euchre party was held in tiie South Dunedin Town Hall last Monday, and was well patronised. Prizes for next Monday will he of special value, and patrons are assured of a good night’s entertainment. _ The fortnightly general meeting of the association was held in the Wesley Street Hall on Wednesday night, Mr Buchanan occupying the chair. Business concerning the unemployed of the district was dealt with. Reports from sub-committees and delegates were discussed, and instructions given to the delegates who are to attend the Unemployed District Council meeting. Six new members were registered, and the printed list of firms in the cash purchase scheme was given to members.
