ELDERLY MAN’S SUDDEN DEATH* Samuel Francis Rhodes, aged 71, married, expired suddenly while witnessing a football match on the slum - grounds yesterday afternoon. He torraerly engaged in farming, and had been in ill-health for some time. - Pahiatna Press Association. BODY FOUND IN MOLYNEUX. On Tuesday afternoon, acting on advice received, Constable Boyle visited a farm near Kaitaugata, where he recovered a body which was caught in the willows. The body was in a very decomposed state, being clad m only boots and socks. The remains were removed to the morgue at Kaitangata where they were later identified as those of James Grainger, a gold prospector, who had been missing from his claim a* Fourteen-mile Beach, near Roxburgh, since February 17. It is believed that the body had been caught by some obstruction, and was released by the re. cent rise caused by the heavy rains. An inquest was opened at Kaitancata yesterday afternoon before Air Li. J. Dixon, S.M.. and after formal evidence of identification was .adjourned to Roxburgh on June 19. CROSSING ACCIDENT. William Henry Peatson, aged sixty, eight, a farm labourer, received severe injuries at Sefton railway crossing this morning through being struck by a train while he was leading horses and a cart over. He was walking beside the shaft on the opposite side to the train, and did not see its approach. One horse had to be destroyed later. The dray was badly damaged—Chnawchurch Association message.
