PRESIDENT ROOSEVELT S HEW PLAN EFFORT TO STIMULATE BUILDING TRADES Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright.; WASHINGTON, May 14. President Roosevelt projected to-day what will probably be the last of his social and economic experiments in connection with, his recovery drive this session. Congress will be asked for an appropriation of about 300,000,000dpi to inaugurate a home-building and repairing campaign throughout the nation. It was pointed out that the building trades, which normally absorb 3,000,000 to 5,000,000 men, have been greatly depressed. It is hoped that at least ljooo,oop will be re-employed through the Government’s efforts, and at the same time the wretched living conditions of millions of Americans will be improved. RECOVERY EXPENDITURE. WASHINGTON, May 15. (Received May 16, at 11 a.m.) President Roosevelt to-day asked Congress for one billion three hundred and twenty-two million dollars to taper off emergency recovery expenditures during the coming Government year. More than 900,000,000d0l has been assigned for general relief and public works purposes.
