A considerable mount of humour as well as some cmlirrassment arose out of a piquant sitiition that developed in the Wcllingtoj Magistrate’s Court this afternoon wtm the sub-inspector of police acted as}both prosecutor and witness in a ehl'ge against another person. Sub-insictor Martin represented the polieqin a charge against James Adam Glagow following a collision in the citybctwecn his car and the sub-inspectod. Mr W. F. Stillwell, S.M.. dismjscd tbo charge on a point of law. j At the outsotjof the case all witnesses were ordeid out of court. Subinspector Martoif remained to conduct the prosecution. When be entered the box, however, fijgive evidence counsel for the defends!. Mr Rollings, objected. pointing ut that witnesses bad been ordered on of court. The magistral observed that it was a verv awkwarl situation. Although counsel was stiftlv within bis rights, be would allov the sub-inspcctor to give evidence. ...
