ARRIVED.—May 16, Port Waikato, s.s. (1.5 p.m.), 688 tons, Watchlin, from Lyttelton. Parera, s.s. (1.20 p.m.), 555 tops, Kanerva, from Bluff, BUOY REMOVED. Tlie harbour master has received the following telegram from the Lyttelton Harbour Board:—“ Please advise masters that the whistling buoy at Lyttelton Heads has been removed, and has been replaced by a can buoy.” THE HARBOUR ENTRANCE. A “ harrow ” has been made to stir up the sand opposite the mole and at the spit with a view to tidal action deepening a southerly outlet at the Heads. The tug Dunedin will pull.the harrow along the bottom when the weather is favourable for carrying out such an operation, ft is interesting, to note that the ship,Maori, 700 tons, was unable to enter the harbour by the south channel in 1857.
