MOSGIEL MUNICIPAL BAND

ANNUAL MEETING Mr J. P. Walls (president) was in the chair at the annual meeting of the Mosgiel Municipal Band held last night. There was a good attendance of niembers. The following office-bearers were elected: —President, Mr J. P. Walls; vice-presidents, Messrs J. White and F. J. Frew; secretary and treasurer, Mr W. Brown; assistant secretary, Mr W. Campbell; band sergeant, Mr J. Wilkie; corporal, Mr W. Campbell; lance-corporal, Mr P. Rogers; custodian, Mr Douglas Sraeaton ; librarian, Mr W. Johnston; auditor, Mr C. C. M’Lachlan; drum-major, Mr C. Williams; General Committee —Messrs L. Graham, W. Fogo, J. Fogo, W. Campbell, J. Wilkie, B. Watt, and E. Pullah ; Social Committee—Messrs J. Craigie, W. Campbell, J. Harvey, B. Watt, and V. Tily. The Secretary outlined the work of the past year, and tabled a lengthy report and a statement of finances. The latter showed the liabilities as nil and in funds and property assets totalling close on £I,OOO. This was considered by all as a most satisfactory position. In a general discussion which fol-lowed-it was pointed out that some of the instruments of the older set were missing, and also that some of the newer ones had not been too well kept by those using them. It was decided that the committee should take up both matters at the next meeting. On the president’s motion all retiring office-bearers were thanked,, special mention being made of the work of the •sppretarv (Mr Brown) and of the work of the bandmaster (Mr L. B. Borrow).
