CAPPING CONCERT

Last night the final dress rehearsal of the capping concert was staged at His Majesty's Theatre, when it became even more certain that this year's performance will surpass any held in the past few years. One interlude in particular received the popular vote of the student audience, and that was one in which Bernard Shaw has a conversation with His Satanic Majesty prior to passiug into the great beyond. The " She Catz Band " was also a popular number, while an artistic little interlude entitled ' Pipped ' has a most unusual and happy climax. The acting in ' Beau Gesto ' is very clever, and the story is well portrayed. The farces are much better than usual, ' To the Last Man ' being over-acted to perfection. Its plot is well thought out, and the situations which arise are so humorous that even the "actors" can suppress their laughter only with the utmost difficulty. ' The Private Wife of Henpeque VIII.' is very well acted, and the student playing' the part of the king is an old favourite on capping stages. The story is good and the situations are hilariously funny. Great expense has been gone to in the frocking of this farce alone. The sextette is the best for yeans without doubt, for this yen]' the students have found six very *,fme

voices. The sextette of 1934 will certainly re-establish the old popularity ol this performance, for they have been well chosen and their voices blend. Worn beginning to end this year's tapping concert is bright and snappy.
