(Received Alay 15, at 9.35 a.m.) Three Alohammedans were killed and twenty Hindus and Alohammedans seriously injured .when sever© communal rioting occurred in the Shamnugger jute mill area, twenty miles from Calcutta. The trouble started with the stabbing of a Hindu leader, and the enraged Hindus swept into the Alohammedan quarter and assaulted everybody indiscriminately. The pent-up feelings of the Alohammedans then, gave way, and the battles were fought out in the streets and bazaars. The local police _ were unable to cope with the situation, but reinforcements restored order. Fifty arrests were made.
